Fun Rainy Day Boredom Buster Activities
Just because it is raining outdoors doesn’t mean indoors has to be boring! There are many fun things to do with children of all ages using the basic art and craft materials around the house; even recycled material will come in handy.
If there are children of various ages in the house, be sure to modify activities. The examples below are easy projects that will keep the kids busy and coming back for more:
Bead Stringing-little ones are able to string cereal, while middle and older children can use plastic and glass beads (be sure to work over cookie sheets so beads stay on work surface)
Paint-those left over baby medicine droppers are perfect for little ones to use with thinned paint, as older children can cut out or draw designs to paint with water colors
Boxes-old boxes can be colored and jumped into by younger children, and older children can cut out magazine clippings and make dollhouses or other buildings
Homemade Dough-2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of colored water will make homemade playdough, while 1 cup peanut butter, 1 1/2 cups powdered milk and 3 tablespoons honey will make peanut butter clay
Enjoy!
